Hyperspectral Environmental Suite (HES) Meeting: A Hyperspectral Environmental Suite (HES) meeting was held in Silver Spring on August 25.   Approximately 20 people, representing NOAA, NASA, federally funded research centers, and several contractors attended the meeting to discuss the trade-space of the HES. T. Schmit gave a talk entitled "Balancing Everything on the HES". This included a review of the status and uses of current Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) sounders and a number of recent HES simulations. GIMPAP Meeting: The annual review of the GOES Improved Measurements and Product Assurance Plan (GIMPAP) program was held in Silver Spring on August 28.  The meeting was chaired by M. DeMaria.  J. Key attended and served on the GIMPAP Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). (J. Key, E/RA2, 608-263-2605)

Journal Paper Accepted for Publication: A manuscript titled "Assimilating GOES Brightness Temperatures. Part 1: Upper Tropospheric Moisture" by Raymond et al., was accepted for publication in the Journal of Applied Meteorology.  The paper was revised by the co-authors (G. Wade and T. Manuscript Reviewed: J. Key reviewed a manuscript on high spectral resolution remote sensing of cloud properties for the Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres.  (J. Key, E/RA2, 608-263-2605)
