Annual Inventory Completed:  As scheduled to be done by NESDIS units within the first quarter of the year, the annual physical inventory of federal equipment was completed on March 16, 2005 for the Advanced Satellite Products Team (ASPT) in Madison, WI.  The Personal Property Physical Inventory Report for ASPT was provided to the Kansas City Regional Operations Center, following full resolution of the 55 assets for which ASPT is responsible per the “Sunflower Assets” Management Report of Inventory Assets.  (G.S. GOES-N and -R Seminar Given at the NOAA Science Center: T. Schmit gave a seminar at the NOAA Science Center in Camp Springs, MD, on March 21st. The title was "The Next Two Geostationary Steps:  Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-N and GOES-R. An overview was given of the GOES-N improvements, along with a summary of the GOES-R baseline instruments, select products and possible scan scenarios. (T. Schmit, E/RA2, 608-263-0291)

Retrieval Meeting: As part of the Temperature and Moisture Profiles Retrievals from Current and Future Sounders meeting to summarize the various retrieval systems, T. Schmit and J. Li (Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS)) gave a talk on the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) retrieval status on March 22 in Camp Springs, MD at the NOAA Science Center. The talk was entitled "GOES Retrievals."  Both current and future plans were discussed. (T. Schmit, E/RA2, 608-263-0291)

Manuscript on Cloud Microphyiscal Property Retrieval Using Hyperspectral Data Accepted:  A manuscript titled "Retrieval of cloud microphysical properties from MODIS and AIRS" was accepted for publication in the Journal of Applied Meteorology.  Co-authors are Jun Li, Allen Huang, Chian-Yi Liu, Ping Yang, Timothy J. Schmit. Heli Wei, Elisabeth Weisz, Li Guan and W. Paul Menzel. (J. Li, CIMSS, 608-262-3755)
