Chapter in New Book on 3D Radiative Transfer:  A. Heidinger coauthored a chapter in a recently published book entitled "3D Radiative Transfer in Cloudy Atmospheres" that was edited by Alexander Marshak (NASA)  and Anthony Davis (Los Alamos National Lab.).  This particular chapter dealt with observational strategies to assess the effects of 3-dimensional (3D) cloud geometry on  radiative transfer.  The work is mainly focused on the use of hyperspectral measurements within shortwave absorption bands.  A future mission, NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO), should allow for application of these theoretical techniques.
