Round Table Discussion with NESDIS Assistant Administrator at AMS Meeting: At the annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) San Antonio, Texas, Steve Ackerman, Tom Achtor and Chris Velden participated in a NESDIS Constituent Round Table Discussion with Mary Kicza. The Round Table discussion addressed how NESDIS products and services can serve the needs of the nation and issues facing the cooperative institutes. Specifically, the following topics were discussed: (1) Environmental Stewardship:  How can NOAA/NESDIS foster the concept of environmental stewardship and informed decision-making among the public and decision-makers? (2) Future Direction:  GOES-R and NPOESS are programs critical to our mission.  Continuing on the path of proper acquisition in these programs is a top priority.  How effectively is NOAA engaging the user community in the development of future satellite programs? (3) Partnerships:  How can we work with academia, the private sector, special interest organizations, the media, and state and local government?  What do you need from us?  What are we doing well?  How can we do better?  Opportunities for new partnerships?   (S. Ackerman, CIMSS, 608-263-3647)
