Workshop on Nexrad In Space: A workshop to introduce and discuss an innovative proposal for putting a radar in geostationary orbit was held at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) in Miami April 10-11. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together engineers from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and hurricane operational/research scientists to discuss this new idea and its potential as a proposed program to NASA. The Nexrad In Space (NIS) design is conceptual at this point, but the engineers projected that it could be space-ready in the 8-10 year timeframe. The hurricane scientists provided input to the data needs that will help drive the specifications of the various instrument measurement capacities. (C. Velden, CIMSS, 608-262-9168; J.
