VISIT Distance Learning Activities at CIMSS: Two Virtual Institute for Satellite Integration Training (VISIT) distance learning lessons were presented by staff at the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS): "Mesoscale Convective Vortices" on May 15, and "Water Vapor Channel Satellite Imagery" on May 16. Forecasters from NOAA's National Weather Service forecast office in Anchorage, Alaska participated in both VISIT lessons. (S. Bachmeier, CIMSS, 608-263-3958, S. Lindstrom, CIMSS, 608-263-4425)

GOES-R Algorithm Working Group Meeting: Approximately 30 scientists and information technology specialists from the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) and the NESDIS/STAR Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) attended the annual GOES-R Algorithm Working Group (AWG) meeting and calibration/validation workshop at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, VA, May 15-18. CIMSS and ASPB personnel chair or co-chair the Aviation, Clouds, Cryosphere, and Soundings algorithm teams, and participate on the Aerosols, Land, Winds, and Proxy Data teams.
