CIMSS VISIT Activities: The Virtual Institute for Satellite Integration Training (VISIT) distance learning lessons "The Enhanced-V: A Satellite Severe Storm Signature" and "Mesoscale Convective Vorticies" were offered by staff from the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) on March 26 and 27, 2008. Forecasters from the National Weather Service (NWS) forecast office at Birmingham, Alabama, the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center at Camp Springs, Maryland, and First Energy (a private sector forecasting firm) participated in the VISIT lessons.
