WCRP Observations and Assimilation Panel Meeting: The third World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Observations and Assimilation Panel (WOAP) meeting was hosted by the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, September 29 – October 3. WOAP consists of representatives from each of the major WCRP projects. Jeff Key represented the Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) project. This third meeting focused on near-term and long-term plans of the WCRP projects, as the current WCRP projects are scheduled to end in 2013. Reanalysis was also an important topic of discussion. Key gave four presentations on cryosphere reanalysis efforts, CliC’s near- and long-term plans, and snow/ice essential climate variables (ECVs). (J. Key, E/RA2, 608-263-2605, jkey@ssec.wisc.edu)

Other Meetings and Telecons: Tim Schmit participated in several telecons, including: American Meteorological Society (AMS) Conference NPOESS/GOES-R Symposium committee, monthly Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R Proving Ground meeting, GOES-R Atmosphere, Ocean, Land (AOL) Technical Advisory Panel (TAP), the GOES-R Ground System Senior Science Staff meeting and also a meeting on the Direct Readout Conference, that will be held in December.
