ASPB Completes CFC Pledge Drive: By 4 December 2008, the StAR Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) completed the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) pledge drive for contributions in 2009. Along with a part-time NOAA (but non-NESDIS) colleague, co-located with ASPB, more than 100% participation was achieved with eight (8) donors contributing a total of over $3600. The United Way of Dane County coordinates the CFC in southcentral Wisconsin. (G.S. Wade, E/RA2, 608-263-4743, gary.s.wade@noaa.gov)

ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:

Presentation Given at a GOES Workshop at TPC: Three presentations were (remotely) given at a Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) workshop at the Tropical Prediction Center (TPC). The topics included GOES-13/O/P, the ABI (Advanced Baseline Imager), ABI for continuity of current Sounder products, simulated imagery, and the ABI and GOES Imager and Sounder Weighting Function web-based tool. The presentations are available upon request. J. Gurka of the GOES-R Program Office was the other presenter and organizer. (T. Schmit, E/RA2, 608-263-0291, tim.j.schmit@noaa.gov)

Federal Equipment Shipped for Surplus: G. Wade, Property Custodian for the Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB), shipped fourteen (14) items of NOAA electronic equipment, ranging from server workstations and desktop personal computers to laptops and external disk drives, to StAR in Camp Springs, MD in early December. These NOAA personal property assets were obsolete and/or no longer were needed. Being from eight (8) to four (4) years old, and originally costing a total of nearly $57K, they unfortunately speak to the short lifetimes of electronic devices in today’s rapidly advancing technological world. Special note is made of the extremely helpful cooperation of S. Devine (at StAR in Camp Springs) in assisting with this process to properly dispose of unneeded equipment per NOAA Property Office requirements. (G.S. Wade, E/RA2, 608-263-4743, gary.s.wade@noaa.gov)
