McIDAS-V Presentations at SPIE Conference: Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) scientists Tom Rink and Tom Achtor provided oral presentations on development activities for McIDAS-V (Man-computer Interactive Data Access System) at the Optical Society (SPIE) Remote Sensing Conference in San Diego, CA from August 3-6. Their presentations summarized development and provided demonstrations in support of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-R (GOES-R) and National Polar Orbiting Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) programs. CIMSS Tropical Cyclone Group Meets: The Tropical Cyclones (TC) group of the NESDIS Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) met for two days in Madison this week to review current research project progress, prioritize outstanding issues, and discuss future ventures. Remote-based members of the group and collaborators attended. NOAA grants supporting the group include projects such as the Advanced Dvorak Technique, AMSU-based intensity estimation method, satellite consensus intensity estimation approaches (SATCON), atmospheric motion vector applications, and others.
