Arctic Council Cryosphere Project Integration Team Meeting: A meeting of the Arctic Council's "Snow, Water, Ice and Permafrost in the Arctic (SWIPA)" project Integration Team was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, October 8-9, 2009. It was hosted by the Danish Energy Agency. SWIPA was originally proposed as a component of the Norwegian Chairmanship of the Arctic Council. The US will chair the Arctic Council in 2015. Jeff Key is one of two US co-leads on the sea ice component of SWIPA. The SWIPA Integration Team includes all the component leads and some representatives of the Arctic Council. VIIRS Operational Algorithm Team Meeting: A. Heidinger attended a meeting of the VIIRS Operational Algorithm Team (VOAT) held at the NPOESS Integrated Program Office in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is the imager on the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) which is slated to launch in 2011. He gave a status report on the evaluation of the official NPOESS/VIIRS cloud algorithms. (A. Heidinger, E/RA2, 608-263-6757, andrew.heidinger@noaa.gov)

The ABI Low-Light Noise Issue: T. Schmit gave a (remote) presentation to the ground, Program System Engineering (PSE), flight segments, and others regarding the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) visible band noise performance issue. The presentation was given on October 9, 2009. The updated presentation included a number of scenarios generated by the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) using high spatial resolution simulated ABI data. (T.
