CIMSS VISIT Activities and Blog Updates: The Virtual Institute for Satellite Integration Training (VISIT) distance learning lesson "The University of Wisconsin Convective Initiation Product" (http://rammb.cira.colostate.edu/visit/uwci.html) was led by S. Lindstrom of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) on July 7, 2010. Staff from the National Weather Service forecast office at Burlington, Vermont participated in the VISIT lesson. In addition, the CIMSS Satellite Blog was updated with new posts discussing fog and stratus along the US West Coast (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/6002), detection of surface features on water vapor imagery (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/6008), and thick haze aloft during the recent East Coast heat wave (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/5978).
