CIMSS and ASPB participation in CoRP Symposium and CIRA Visit: Steve Ackerman (Director, Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies, CIMSS), Agnes Lin (CIMSS student), Brent Maddux (CIMSS student), and M. Pavolonis (Advanced Satellite Products Branch, ASPB) attended the 2010 Cooperative Research Program (CoRP) Symposium in Fort Collins, CO. The CIMSS and ASPB contingent gave talks and/or posters on satellite-derived cloud climatologies, satellite data assimilation, and volcanic convection. The CoRP Symposium provided an opportunity for scientists and students to closely interact and discuss scientific research. In addition, M. Pavolonis visited the Regional and Mesoscale Meteorology Branch (RAMM) Branch and the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) located at the Colorado State University to discuss current and potential future collaborations on convective and volcanic cloud research. Algorithm Development Executive Board Meeting: The Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) remotely presented many Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) product algorithms at the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R Algorithm Development Executive Board (ADEB) Meeting on August 10 and 11, 2010. A. Heidinger presented  the cloud mask, cloud phase, cloud height and nighttime cloud microphysical properties algorithms. On behalf of M. Pavolonis, Heidinger presented the volcanic ash, SO2 detection and low cloud and fog algorithms. T. Schmit presented the algorithms for imagery and soundings (Legacy Atmospheric Temperature Profile, Legacy Atmospheric Moisture Profile, Total Precipitable Water and Atmospheric Stability Indices).
