TORERO Science Team Meeting: Brad Pierce presented a talk with co-author Andrew Heidinger entitled “NOAA Flight Planning Support and Satellite Aerosol and Cloud Retrieval Validation during TORERO” during the “Tropical Ocean TRoposphere Exchange of Reactive Halogen Species and Oxygenated VOC” (TORERO) Science Team Meeting in Boulder, CO. TORERO is a National Science Foundation sponsored airborne field mission to study the release and transport of halogenated gases and oxidized VOCs in the Eastern Tropical Pacific during January-February, 2012. STAR scientists will be participating in the TORERO mission under support from the GOES-R Algorithm Working Group (AWG) Airborne Calibration/Validation Program and will be actively involved in daily TORERO flight planning and satellite validation activities (R.B. Pierce, E/RA2, 608-890-1892, brad.pierce@noaa.gov,A. Heidinger, E/RA2, 608-263-6757, andrew.heidinger@noaa.gov)

ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:

GOES-12 Imager XGOHI Test Investigated: At the request of the Office of Satellite Products and Operations (OSPO), the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-12 imager data during an eXtended GOES High-Inclination (XGOHI) test on November 2 was investigated. The imager data are remapped to remove the affects of the increasing satellite inclination before the GOES VARiable (GVAR) datastream is broadcast. There will be another XGOHI test, beginning on November 8, 2011. The GOES-South America imager data are scheduled to transition to XGOHI operations on November 14, 2011 at 1915 UTC. (T. Schmit, E/RA2, 608-263-0291, tim.j.schmit@noaa.gov)
