First Global Cryosphere Watch Implementation Meeting: The World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) Global Cryosphere Watch (GCW) held its First Implementation Meeting at WMO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, 21-25 November 2011. GCW was approved as a program by the WMO Congress earlier this year. Jeff Key is the GCW Task Team lead for the WMO Panel of Experts on Polar Observations, Research, and Services (EC-PORS), and co-organizer of the meeting. EC-PORS oversees the development of GCW. The 30 meeting participants were WMO Member and partner organization representatives from Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Norway, Finland, UK, Tajikistan, Russia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Argentina, Canada, and the US.
