Alaska OCONUS Proving Ground Meeting: The OCONUS (outside continental U.S.) Proving Ground meeting took place in Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska, 18-21 June 2013. The meeting was held at the University of Alaska-Anchorage Aviation Tech Center, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks International Arctic Research Center (IARC), and the NESDIS Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station (FCDAS; "Gilmore Creek"). The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R and Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Proving Ground programs focus on satellite products that will be useful for National Weather Service forecasters, including the Alaska Ice Desk. Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) and Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) participants included Mike Pavolonis, Jeff Key, Wayne Feltz, Jordan Gerth, and Ralph Petersen. Steve Goodman (GOES-R Program Scientist) and Mitch Goldberg (JPSS Program Scientist) supported and attended the meeting.
