ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:

CrIS SDR Dataset Available: A refined Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) Sensor Data Record (SDR) dataset is available on-line at ftp://peate.ssec.wisc.edu/allData/products/results/cris/cspp/SDR_1_4b_ILS_NLC_v33a-04/. This dataset is produced using a consistent version of the Algorithm Development (ADL)/Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) SDR algorithm for the full Suomi-NPP mission, is performed in a way that avoids the large majority of issues associated with data transmission problems present in the operational processing, and includes the most recent refinements to the radiometric and spectral calibration algorithms and coefficients. This work is the result of several NOAA and NASA supported projects including the NOAA JPSS Cal/Val program, the ADL and CSPP projects, and the NASA NPP Atmosphere Product Evaluation and Test Element (PEATE) project. (D. Tobin, CIMSS/SSEC, 608-265-6281; L. Gumley, CIMSS/SSEC, 608-265-5358; G. Martin, CIMSS/SSEC, 608-263-6794)

CIMSS VISIT Activities : The two Virtual Institute for Satellite Integration Training (VISIT) distance learning modules "Forecaster Training for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R Fog/Low Stratus (FLS) Products" and "Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Satellite Products in Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS)" were led by S. Lindstrom on October 2 and 3, 2013. Forecasters from the National Weather Service office in Jacksonville, Florida participated in the VISIT lessons. In addition, the CIMSS Satellite Blog (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/) was updated with posts discussing "Tropical Storm Karen", the "Aurora Borealis", and "Mesospheric airglow waves over the Atlantic Ocean".
