CIMSS 5-year Review: The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) had its 5-year review this week (December 16-18, 2013). The effort put forth by everyone was very much appreciated. We anticipate, based on discussions, a positive review but a final, written version is not yet available. JARS Paper Published on SRSOR Data from 2012: An article titled “Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-14 super rapid scan operations to prepare for GOES-R” was published in the Journal of Applied Remote Sensing, with the . The authors are T. J. Schmit, S. J. Goodman, D. T. Lindsey, R. M. Rabin, K. M. Bedka, M. M. Gunshor, J. L. Cintineo, C. S. Velden, A. S. Bachmeier, S. S. Lindstrom, and C. C. Schmidt. The article discusses the 2012 Super Rapid Scan Operations for GOES-R data. VISITORS:

Visitor from KMA: Dr. Sungwook Hong from the Korean Meteorological Agency (KMA) visited the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) December 16-17, 2013. Many topics were discussed including imagery, rapid scan, clouds, tropical cyclones, data assimilation, simulated imagery, cyrosphere and aviation weather. In addition, Dr. Hong gave a highly informative seminar entitled “Korea's current and planned satellite activities”. (T. Schmit, E/RA2, 608-263-0291, tim.j.schmit@noaa.gov)
