JPSS Maturity Review: The Cryosphere, Cloud Mask and Cloud Product Teams participated in the JPSS Environmental Data Record (EDR) Maturity Review held at the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP) Building. The Cloud Mask achieved Validation Stage 2 Status. The Ice Surface Temperature and binary Snow Cover EDRs achieved Validation Stage 1. ASPB and CIMSS Participate in the AWG Validation Workshop: Many scientists from Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) and the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) participated in the 2nd Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-R) Algorithm Working Group (AWG) validation workshop, which was held January 9-10, 2014. This remote participation included oral presentations on imagery, atmospheric profiles, cloud properties, hurricane intensity, volcanic ash, hot spot characterization, collocations, and Man computer Interactive Data Access System (McIDAS-V). ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:

GOES-13 Super Rapid Scan Operations (SRSO) Imagery: The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-13) satellite was placed into Super Rapid Scan Operations (SRSO) mode on January 7, 2014 to support the Ontario Winter Lake-effect Systems (OWLeS) field experiment. In SRSO mode, the satellite provided images at 1-minute intervals. GOES-13 SRSO visible image animations covering Lake Erie and Lake Ontario were posted on the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) Satellite Blog (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/14719).
