Manuscript on Model-derived Atmospheric Motion Vectors Published: A manuscript entitled “Atmospheric motion vectors from model simulations. Part I: Methods and characterization as single-level estimates of wind” was published in the Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology. This study used data from a large-scale Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model simulation to seek to improve the characterization of satellite-derived atmospheric motion vectors and their errors to guide developments in their use in numerical weather prediction. J. Otkin and S. Wanzong were co-authors. (J. Otkin, CIMSS, 608-265-2476)

STAR Seminar on GOES-14 by T. Schmit: T. Schmit presented a STAR seminar at the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP)on January 28, 2014. The subject was “Using Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-14 to Showcase GOES-R ABI Scan Scenarios”. More information, including many GOES-14 Imager 1-minute interval animations, can be found at http://www.orbit.nesdis.noaa.gov/star/past_seminars_2014.php. (T.
