Update to SWIPA 2011 Report Underway: In 2011, a report on recent changes in the Arctic cryosphere was published by the Arctic Council's Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP; http://www.amap.no/swipa). The purpose of the report was to provide "reliable and sufficient information on the status of, and threats to, the Arctic environment, and provide scientific advice on actions to be taken in order to support Arctic governments in their efforts to take remedial and preventive actions relating to contaminants and adverse effects of climate change." Jeff Key was a co-lead author on two of the SWIPA chapters. An update to the 2011 report is now being undertaken. At present, the structure and chapter outlines are being formulated. Key will be a co-lead author on the trends and feedbacks chapter, which will focus on the atmosphere and interactions between components of the Arctic climate system. (J. Key, E/RA2, 608-263-2605, jkey@ssec.wisc.edu)
