Participation in 2014 EUMETSAT Satellite Conference: Approximately 10 people from the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) and the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) attended the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) conference on Satellite Meteorology in Geneva, Switzerland, 22-26 September 2014. There were approximately 400 people were in attendance overall. Roughly 12 presentations and several posters, with topics ranging from consistent algorithms for climate research, nowcasting, instrument calibration, the GOES-R Proving Ground, exploring the upper reaches of the atmosphere as well as many more topics, were presented. Several new collaborations were discussed and envisioned and we all look forward to future discussions. Examples included training opportunities, cloud comparisons, collaborations on satellite climate data records and other research opportunities. (S. Ackerman, CIMSS, 608-263-3647; W. ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:

Ice Products Test Readiness Review: The JPSS Risk Reduction Cryosphere Unit Test Readiness Review (UTRR) was held on October 7, 2014. The readiness of sea ice concentration, ice thickness/age, and ice surface temperature for operational implementation within the NPP Data Exploitation (NDE) framework was presented. The UTRR for snow cover will be held at a later date. (J. Key, E/RA2, 608-263-2605, jkey@ssec.wisc.edu)

Satellite imagery of Super Typhoon Vongfong: A variety of satellite images of Super Typhoon Vongfong were posted on the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) Satellite Blog (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/16846). After going through a period of rapid intensification on October 7, this became the most intense tropical cyclone observed so far in 2014. (S. Bachmeier, CIMSS, 608-263-3958, W.
