NOAA Climate Data Record Annual Meeting: The NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Climate Data Record Program held its NOAA Climate Data Record Annual Meeting, August 4-6, 2015, in Asheville, NC. Yinghui Liu and Mike Hiley, Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), both attended and represented polar and cloud CDR projects. The focus of this year's meeting was to: (1) Provide insight and status on NOAA’s CDR Program and it’s supported scientists. (2) Discuss the latest updates from the NCEI user engagement team, as well as others from the U.S. Government and International agencies that coordinate or partner with the NOAA CDR Program. (3) Share the increased priority for CDR user engagement and high-value applications of CDRs, beyond traditional climate science research, in various sectors such as agriculture, forestry, energy, health, tourism, transportation, water, fisheries, etc. (Y. Liu, CIMSS, 608-265-8620)

National Hurricane Center Briefing: Jim Kossin (NCEI/CWC) provided slides to Mark DeMaria (NOAA/NHC) for a briefing given to forecasters and specialists at the National Hurricane Center. Kossin's slides introduce a new model that is designed to improve intensity forecast skill during hurricane eyewall replacement cycles, and is presently being transitioned into NHC operations. The transition to operations is expected to take place in August. (Jim Kossin, NCEI/CWC, 608-265-5356)
