GEWEX DAP Presentation: Andrew Heidinger gave an oral presentation remotely to the GEWEX Data and Analysis Panel (DAP) Meeting held in Xiamen, China. The Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) exists to integrate science, research and observations from the global community. The DAP has recently led an effort to access the current satellite climate data records in several key areas. A. Heidinger is a member of the GEWEX DAP and his talk focused on characterizing several new cloud climate records that have emerged since the end of the last assessment. He also briefed on his thoughts on evolving the GEWEX cloud data sets including those from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP). (A. VISITORS:

Visitor from Finnish Meteorological Institute: Dr. Aku Riihelä from the Finnish Meteorological Institute arrived this week for a two-month visit at the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS). Aku leads an albedo project for the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Sustained and coordinated processing of Environmental Satellite data for Climate Monitoring (SCOPE-CM) program.
