The GOES Series Turns 40 years old: GOES-1 launched on October 16, 1975. This was the first in the GOES series that currently runs through GOES-15. 2015 Energy Summit: The Wisconsin Energy Institute's 2015 Energy Summit, "The Path Ahead for U.S. States?" (http://energy.wisc.edu/events/2015-energy-summit) was held at the University of Wisconsin- Madison on October 13, 2015. The 2015 Summit focused on the challenges that industry, regulators, and the public face in reducing health-damaging air pollutants and carbon emissions, while maintaining reliable energy. The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), was a co-sponsor of the 2015 Summit. Speakers from the Satellite Data and the Globalization of Air Pollution Session met with CIMSS and Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) staff to discuss the use of satellite data for model evaluation under the Task Force on Hemispheric Transport of Air Pollution (TF HTAP, http://www.htap.org/).
