CIMSS and ASPB Scientists Attend ITSC-20: The 20th International TOVS Study Conference was held October 28 - November 3, 2015 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The conference features a wide range of results applying satellite sounder data in numerical weather prediction, retrieval science, science applications, and climate. Many Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) scientists presented research results, including Aronne Merrelli, Liam Gumley, Kathleen Strabala, Bill Smith, Elisabeth Weisz, Jun Li, Eva Borbas, Dave Tobin, Ray Garcia, Geoff Cureton, Scott Mindock, Nick Bearson, Graeme Martin, David Hoese, Szuchia Moeller, Jessica Braun, Nadia Smith, Jessica Gartzke, Jason Otkin, Bob Knuteson, Wayne Feltz, James Jung, Andi Walther, Michelle Feltz, Anges Lim, and Allen Huang. Andrew Heidinger (STAR/ASPB) also attended.  A. Walter took home the bronze medal in the poster competition. The Study Conference also breaks into topical working groups on these topics to provide actions and recommendations to members, collaborators and agencies. CIMSS participates in AOMSUC: Several researchers from the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) participated in the Sixth Asia/Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users' Conference (AOMSUC), 10-12 November 2015, hosted by the Japan Meteorological Agency in Tokyo, Japan. Denis Botambekov, Jordan Gerth, Allen Huang, and Paul Menzel made presentations to the international audience on new satellite-related science and technology that is relevant to the western Pacific Basin. ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:

Input for the Decadal Study: Several White Papers were submitted for the Decadal Study for Earth Science and Applications from Space. These included: "Advanced high-spectral resolution infrared geostationary observations", "Advanced Geostationary Sounders are needed to significantly enhance capabilities for issuing crucial pre-storm warnings", "Advanced infrared sounder in geostationary orbit: Monitoring water vapor evolution with high spatial and temporal resolution", and "Advanced geostationary measurements: Diurnal Land Surface Emissivity" (co-author).
