Global Cryosphere Watch Steering Group Meeting: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Global Cryosphere Watch (GCW) Steering Group (GSG) held its fourth meeting in Cambridge, UK, 16-20 January 2017. The meeting was hosted by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). Jeff Key attended as the Science Advisor to the Steering Group and as a lead and member of several GCW task teams. NOAA Stakeholder Interactions: NOAA’s insurance and reinsurance stakeholders have been dialoguing with Jim Kossin (NCEI/CWC) about the results of a recent paper related to U.S. coastal hurricane risk (Kossin, J. P., 2016, Hurricane intensification along United States coast suppressed during active hurricane periods, Nature, doi:10.1038/nature20783). These dialogues have led to two stories aimed at the insurance/reinsurance community. One was published in the Insurance Insider and the other was published by XL Catlin.
