IN THE PRESS:

SSEC and CIMSS Scientists in the News: Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) and the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) provide expert commentary, interviews, and imagery to news media. In the news this week: 1) SSEC's new director, Brad Pierce, shared his vision for the center, what he brings to the role, and his ideas about current and future challenges in an interview published by SSEC News (https://go.wisc.edu/gcu9s4). 2) Research meteorologist Scott Bachmeier who uses the Twitter handle, @CIMSS_Satellite, was named one of the best UW-Madison Twitter accounts to follow. Whether "you know a lot about meteorology or nothing at all" his posts describe "stunning [satellite] image after stunning image" (https://go.wisc.edu/6e855e). 3) Scott Bachmeier provided GOES-16 Infrared imagery and the MIMIC Total Precipitable Water product for the period September 25 to October 2, 2018 to the NWS Forecast Office in Phoenix for their analysis of former Hurricane Rosa (https://www.weather.gov/psr/FormerHurricaneRosa). 4) CIMSS Satellite Blog contributors Scott Bachmeier and Scott Lindstrom published posts on "Leeside frontal gravity wave moves southward across the Plains" (Oct. 4), "Severe thunderstorms in Pennsylvania" (Oct. 2), "Hurricane Walaka" (Oct. 1), "Mode 4 Testing for both GOES-16 and GOES-17" (Oct. 1), and "Medicane “Zorbas”" (Sept. 29).
