CIMSS AND ASPB WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK ENDING JANUARY 21, 2022

PRODUCTS AND APPLICATIONS:

Advanced Dvorak Technique (ADT) ready for NOAA operations: The Advanced Dvorak Technique (ADT) Version 9.0 passed its Operational Readiness Review (ORR) and has now been approved for operational use at NOAA. The ADT has been successfully integrated into the NOAA NPP Data Exploitation (NDE) Version 2,0 and will become operational in February of 2022 for use in estimating tropical cyclone intensity globally. The ADT has been used in operations at the NOAA/NESDIS Satellite Analysis Branch (SAB) since 2007. However, previous versions were locally installed and controlled by NOAA/SAB. The latest upgrade of the ADT will primarily benefit NOAA/NESDIS/SAB in Washington, DC and the NOAA/National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami as well as NOAA/Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) and Joint Typhoon Warning Center in Hawaii.
