Presentation at NOAA Satellite Book Club: The Total Operational Weather Readiness - Satellites (TOWR-S) Satellite Book Club is a weekly seminar is an opportunity for scientists from NESDIS and other satellite users/algorithm developers can share satellite data applications or other satellite related topics to a wide range of National Weather other users. William Straka was asked present on "Examining Remotely Sensed Products Used in Operational Decision Support Services During the 2022 Spring Flood Event Within the Red River of the North Basin". This was a timely presentation as flood season for CONUS starts in the next several months and several NWS Weather Forecast offices are currently testing the operational NOAA VIIRS flood product. (W. SSEC and CIMSS Scientists in the News: Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) and the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) provide expert interviews, imagery and case studies to promote science. This week:

  1. Discover Magazine picked up CIMSS scientist Scott Bachmeier's blog post on dust over the Gobi Desert that blew into Eastern China and was captured on satellite images.   2.
