Assistance at Weather Ready Nation Boy Scout Merit Badge Event in Baltimore: Scott Lindstrom from the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) participated in the Weather Ready Nation Scout Event held in Baltimore on 28 January 2024 (https://wrnscoutevent.wixsite.com/wrnscoutevent) and sponsored by Ball Aerospace. As a volunteer at this effort, Scott guided Boy and Girl scouts through worksheets that described different clouds, the water cycle, and human effects that can affect the climate. This event was held before the start of the Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society. (S. Lindstrom, CIMSS, 608 263 4425)

SSEC and CIMSS Scientists in the news: Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) and the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) provide expert interviews, imagery and case studies to promote science and satellite imagery. This week: 1) CIMSS Satellite Blog contributors Scott Bachmeier and Scott Lindstrom published the following case studies: "Long-duration Tehuano wind event" (January 30); "Polar Low moves across the Bering Sea" (January 28); "Minor eruptions of Popocatépetl in Mexico" (January 27); "Strong Convection over the Gulf of Mexico" (January 26).
