OSDPD Presentations on AVHRR Cloud Products
Operational Status:
The Clouds from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer
(AVHRR) (CLAVR-x) cloud algorithms have been running experimentally in
the Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD)
for roughly one year. A. Heidinger attended a meeting concerning
the
insertion of the
cloud mask into the OSDPD AVHRR preprocessor system. OSDPD will
soon
decide
on the optimal scenario for running the CLAVR-x algorithms in their
current
and future operational environments. Office of Research and
Applications (ORA) scientists stressed the need to
make the cloud mask results available in the 1b data stream to external
users
to get feedback as soon as possible.
