Workshop on
Satellite Data Applications and Information Extraction: A
workshop was held August 20-21 at the Cooperative Institute for
Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) to begin the planning and
development of
new satellite products and
presentation formats for current and future satellite data for weather
forecasters in the field. The objective of
the workshop
was to identify the most effective ways to present essential
information
to forecasters. Personnel from the National Weather Service, NESDIS,
the Army Research Lab, and three universities participated. A report
with a summary and recommendations will be available in the near
future. (J. Key,
