Kindergarten Classes Learns About Snow: T. Schmit talked to two
classes of kindergartners at Blessed Sacrament School in Madison,
Wisconsin. The
talk included snow scenes from satellite, images of 100-year-old snow
crystals, an inter-active Java applet (from T. Whittaker) that builds
virtual snowflakes

and a reading of "Snowflake Bentley". W. Bentley
pioneered the photographing of snow crystals. The W. Bentley snow
images were from the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC)

Abstract Submitted to Forest Service Remote
Sensing Applications Conference: The abstract titled
"Geostationary Satellite Fire Monitoring Using the Wildfire Automated
Biomass Burning Algorithm" by E. Prins, C. Schmidt, and J. Feltz was
submitted to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service
Remote Sensing Applications Conference to be held in Salt Lake City on
April 5-9, 2004. The invited paper will be included in a special

Abstract on Future GOES Hyperspectral Data Submitted for a SPIE Conference: An abstract was submitted to the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) Atmospheric And Environmental Remote Sensing Data Processing And Utilization: An End-To-End System Perspective conference. The title is "Overview of NOAA's GOES (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) Hyperspectral Sounding Data, Communication and Compression Activities". The authors are R. Heymann and T.
