Climate and Cryosphere Meeting: Jeff
Key attended a meeting of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP)
Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) project in Boulder, Colorado, June 9-10.
Key is the chair of the CliC Observation Products Panel. Most of
the meeting involved data management for the International Polar Year
(IPY) projects and data management in the Integrated Global Observing
Strategy (IGOS) Cryosphere Theme. (J. Key, E/RA2,

Material on
Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-N Supplied on
for the GOES-N NOAA/NESDIS Briefing: T. Schmit submitted a
Powerpoint file on GOES-N for the quarterly meeting on GOES-N. The
slides were very well received and an action item was issued to include
much of the information in the upcoming public affairs press

VISITview lesson
developed on GOES-N/O/P:
T. Schmit gave a successful "beta" test of a new Geostationary
Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-N/O/P Virtual Institute for
Satellite Integration Training (VISIT)view module. The module covers
the similarities and differences between the current GOES series and
what GOES-N and -O will offer. For example, while the GOES-N/O/P images
and sounders will offer improved navigation and will also scan during
eclipse periods, the basic instrumentation is in general
unchanged. A
demonstration of the web-based distance-learning module can be given
upon request. (T. Schmit, E/RA2,

Presentation on the
GOES-R Hyperspectral Environmental Suite at MURI Meeting:
T. Schmit gave a talk entitled "Geostationary Operational Environmental
Satellite (GOES)-R Hyperspectral Sensor/Science Requirements" at the
5th Workshop on Hyperspectral Science of University of Wisconsin
(UW)-Madison Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI)
meeting. The presentation is available upon request. The meeting was
held June 7-9, 2005 in Madison, WI. More information can be found at: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/muri/meetings/2005/.
