Software for Efficient SARTA Jacobian Calculation Provided to AIRS Team:
Software for Routine for efficient Stand-alone AIRS Radiative Transfer
Algorithm (SARTA) Jacobian calculation has been provided to AIRS team
(Larrabee Strow, Chris Barnet and Dave Tobin) for testing. SARTA,
developed by the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), does
not provide a linear model although it is currently used in Atmospheric
Infrared Sounder (AIRS) operational retrieval processing. The
efficient Jacobian algorithm is based on an analytical form (Li 1994)
and can be used as an alternative to the SARTA linear model. (J. Li,
CIMSS, 608-262-3755)
SPSRB Information Brief on GOES-N:
T. Schmit gave an information brief on Geostationary Operational
Environmental Satellite (GOES)-N to the Satellite Products and Services
Review Board (SPSRB) on January 18th. The two main purposes of the
brief were to inform the SPSRB of the GOES-N status and to request
guidance from SPSRB for a requirement regarding preparation and support
new GOES satellites post-launch check-outs and activations. (T. Schmit,
