T. Schmit supplied input and several images for a Geostationary
Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-10 Readiness "white paper"
on its operation over South America. This effort is part of the Earth
Observation Partnership of the Americas (EOPA) plan. Information was
given on GOES-10 background, products and possible imager and sounder

Updated Geostationary Satellite Plans for CGMS Meeting:
T. Schmit updated two documents on geostationary satellite plans. These
briefly summarize the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite
(GOES)-I/M, GOES-N/O/P and GOES-R series. This was done in preparation
for an upcoming meeting that NOAA is participating in, the
“Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS)- World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) Workshop on Optimization of
Geostationary and Low-Earth Orbit Satellite Plans” to be held on
May 29-30, in Geneva, Switzerland. (T. Schmit, E/RA2,

NASA Poster on Hurricane Katrina:
An outreach poster regarding the Geostationary Operational
Environmental Satellite (GOES) and Hurricane Katrina was developed
by NASA in conjunction with National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA). This poster was reviewed and a full disk "water
vapor" image, caption and text on GOES products were provided. A GOES
satellite "montage" generated by CIMSS will be on the front of the
poster. (Tim Schmit and Tim Olander, CIMSS, 608-265-8005). (T. Schmit,
