EUMETSAT Conference: Tim Schmit and Jeff Key attended the 2006 EUropean organization for the exploitation of METeorological SATellites (EUMETSAT) Meteorological Satellite Conference in Helsinki, Finland.  Schmit gave a presentation titled "2006 update on baseline instruments for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R series". Key gave a keynote presentation titled "A new view of the polar regions from space: Improving weather forecasting and understanding climate change". Also, as a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) satellite committee, Schmit attended two meetings on the plans for the 2007 satellite conference in Amsterdam.
