Paper Published on Diurnal Cycles in a Blended Satellite-Reanalysis Data Set: A
paper titled "Diurnal cycles in Arctic surface radiative fluxes in a
blended satellite-climate reanalysis data set" was published in the
on-line Journal of Applied Remote Sensing (Vol. 1, 013535, September
13). The co-authors are X. Wang (Cooperative Institute for
Meteorological Satellite Studies, CIMSS), J. Key (STAR), C. Fowler and
J. Maslanik (University of Colorado). (J. Key, E/RA2, 608-263-2605,

ITEMS FOR THE DIVISION CHIEF, CoRP:
ABI Proxy Data Animations: We have created animations of sample GOES-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) proxy datasets generated from our supercomputer runs for 4-5 June 2005, located at ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/proxy_ppts. The first presentation (51 MB) covers the 15:00 to 20:00 UTC and contains a 16 panel continental U.S. (CONUS) animation. The second presentation (92 MB) covers the period from 22:00 UTC on the 4th to 00:00 UTC on the 5th. The full disk data are at 15 min and 6 km resolution; the CONUS is at 5 min and 2 km resolution; and the mesoscale data are at 1 min and 667 m resolution. (T. Greenwald, CIMSS, 608-263-3629; E. Olson, CIMSS, 608-262-9538; J. Sieglaff, 608-265-5357)Other Meetings and Telecons:
None.
VISITORS:
NEXT WEEK:
ASPB Participation at the EUMETSAT/AMS Satellite Conference: At
the combined EUropean organization for the exploitation of
METeorological SATellites (EUMETSAT)/ American Meteorological Society
(AMS) Satellite Conference, J. Key will give an oral presentation
entitled “A 23-Year record of satellite-derived polar winds for climate
studies”. A. Heidinger will presented two posters: “Characteristics of
the AVHRR Pathfinder Atmospheres Extended (PATMOS-x) Cloud Climatology”
and “Comparison of Metop AVHRR cloud products from the CLAVR-x, MAIA
and PPS systems”. T. Schmit is on the AMS satellite committee and will
present several posters: “The ABI (Advanced Baseline Imager) on
GOES-R”, “Baseline instruments for the GOES-R series”,
“Intercalibrating the world's geostationary imagers via polar orbiting
high spectral resolution data”, and “Results of the GOES-13 Science
Test”. (T. Schmit, E/RA2, 608-263-0291, tim.j.schmit@noaa.gov)
