Presentation on CSPP LightningCast Beta Software to Australian VLab Center of Excellence: Scott Lindstrom from the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite (CIMSS) gave a 20-minute presentation on Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) LightningCast Probability software. This was given at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology Virtual Laboratory Center of Excellence. The Beta version of this software allows anyone with access to GOES-R Level-1b Radiance files, or to Himawari HSD files, to create imagery that includes contours of LightningCast probability fields. The presentation showed examples of how the LightningCast probability fields can give useful information, and also why you might create imagery after the fact, necessitating the need for the software. The presentation at the VLab COE was recorded and is available here http://www.virtuallab.bom.gov.au/archive/regional-focus-group-recordings/. (S. Lindstrom, CIMSS, 608 263 4425)
