DATA, INFORMATION, AND USE-INSPIRED SCIENCE:
JPSS VIIRS Winds Quick Guide has been Submitted for NWS-WFO Alaska: Recently, JPSS VIIRS winds from Direct Broadcast at Fairbanks became available to NWS forecasters at WFO in Alaska through AWIPS, with assist from the Geographic Information Network of Alaska (GINA) at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. A quick guide tutorial has been submitted this week. This tutorial contains details about the product with examples included. This will be an important resource for forecasters and will assist in weather nearcasting over the Alaskan region. (R. Dworak, CIMSS, 608-890-0704)
