TRAVEL AND MEETINGS:

CIMSS's Steve Greb attends the European Space Agency (ESA) Lakes Workshop: Steve Greb of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies was invited to attend a ESA sponsored workshop in Stirling, Scotland June 30-July 1st. Titled "Science needs for climate-resilient lake ecosystems” this workshop was dedicated to co-designing observation, modelling and science-based management solutions for lakes and reservoirs. Workshop themes included: 1. Lake resilience under extreme events; 2. Attributing change to climate, catchment and human pressures; 3. Hydrological connectivity; 4. Carbon pools, biological productivity and climate feedbacks; and 5. Detecting gradual change and future tipping points. Outcomes of the workshop are being used in the ESA Lakes Climate Change Initiative to inform a science roadmap and future user requirements. (Steve Greb, CIMSS)
