These questions are a bit more difficult than our basic Questions for Thought. Your mission, should you choose to accept it,
is to answer 15 of them over the course of the semester. If you do, you could be
one of the contest winners. The prize? See the
contest description below. Good luck! Note: More questions will be
added as the semester progresses.
Contest Description
Object: Answer any 15 of the above questions correctly and clearly.
Prize: Waiver of the final exam. Winners do not have to take the final, and a
perfect score (100%) will be recorded for that exam.
Rules:
Questions may be answered in any order and at any time through Thursday, April 29.
Questions are to be answered by you alone; i.e., no group efforts are permitted.
If any question is answered more than once, only the first answer will be evaluated.
If more than 15 different questions are answered, only the first 15 will be evaluated.
Answers will be evaluated by Professor Key with regard to accuracy and clarity.
His judgement is final and non-negotiable.
Entries with fewer than 15 questions answered will not be evaluated.
There will be no more than five (5) winners.
Winners will be announced on Monday, May 3. Winners who are not present in class on
that day will be deselected; i.e., they won't be winners anymore.
No partial credit is given. It's all or none.
Tips:
You may use any reference material to answer the questions. However, discussions
of questions with others is not permitted. (Feel free to discuss the questions with others
if you're not entering the contest, of course.) In fact, sharing answers works against you
because only the top five answer sets will be selected as winners, regardless of how
many students submit "correct" answers.
Long answers are generally not required, and will not necessarily improve your chances.
Be concise! On the other hand, make sure your explanations are complete and clear.
Regular attendance in class is still expected.
Make sure you use your correct BUID each and every time you submit an answer.
Your submissions are indexed by your BUID.
You cannot go back and review previous answers. Print and/or save a copy
of the web page that is shown after you click "Submit". This also gives some
protection against computer problems.
