Known Problems
General Problems
- Missing data in 1985-86: Almost half of the ISCCP cloud data were
missing during 1985-86 (only one NOAA satellite available), so the flux results
are almost certainly biased.
- Fluxes too small: Through comparisons with monthly and daily
station data and fluxes generated by a climate model, it appears that
the downwelling longwave flux at the surface may be too small. For
higher sun conditions the downwelling shortwave flux may also underestimate
the true flux. This potential problem is under investigation.
